Worry Wall

Today the Dragonflies met a new vilain to defeat with our flexible thinking, Worry Wall. This villain will make us feel nervous, stressed or anxious so much that you can not do what you want to do or need to do. The Dragonflies thought about a time when Worry Wall may have taken over their brains. Many things were shared including bedtime, new people and places, and trying new things. All of these can cause worry, stress, and anxiousness. However the best way to defeat Worry Wall is flexible thinking and allowing ourselves to recognize him in the moment so we can defeat him. We practiced one method and that was to use belly breathing, deep breaths from our bellies, and visualizing our calm and happy places and things to relax. We will try other methods here soon, but the Dragonflies are doing an excellent job with their Flexible Thinking and making good connections with these characters.

Those Shoes

KD students are preparing for our Kids 4 Kids project. We read a great book called Those Shoes to help us understand the difference between 'wants' and 'needs' and bring a kindergarten awareness to those families that may not have all they need and what we will be doing to help. Thank you to all families who have begun to bring in items for our family in need. Monday and Tuesday we will begin preparing the donations. Please sign up on the Shutterfly account if you are interested in volunteering.

Happy Birthday, Harper!

Today was Harper's birthday celebration! She shared great pictures with us and delicious cookies that you just have to see( picture below)! Wishing you a great birthday, Harper!

Our Star of the Week

Thomas is our Star of the Week! Today he shared his pictures and answered all our questions. Did you know that Thomas has two brothers and loves to eat steak? Did you also know that he plays baseball and his favorite position is batter? Thomas did an excellent job sharing and we look forward to learning much more about him this week.

This week in pictures!

This week was our final week of Mexico. We had our fiesta where we shook things up and made  churros and maracas. We also had another Guest Reader share The Hat, one of my personal favorites! Vivian was our Star of the Week and we opened lots of new station activities.

Our Star of the Week

Vivian is our Star of the Week. Did you know that Vivian likes to eat ribs and go to COSI. She also has an older brother at Academy. Vivian did a wonderful job sharing her pictures and brought it an excellent estimation- rocks! We really enjoyed doing a listening count to find out just how close we were to our estimations.

Phew!! Check out all these great pics! A HUGE thank you to both Mrs. McCullen for all her hard work and organization and all the KD parents for making this first party a success!
